Thinking about starting a project.

But I would really like the input of you guys.
I have a 1967 gmc long bed step side 2wd and 250 that has a good bit of cancer. Most of the rust is in the bed and rear fenders but it does have the rotten cab corners. I was thinking about restoring the cab and building a flatbed.

I also have an 87 gmc suburban 4x4 with even more rust and wile it runs great, will not pass emissions.

My question: Has anyone here ever taken the cab and front clip from a 67-72 truck and mounted it on a 80 something sub frame? Was it worth the effort. Neither vehicle is a daily driver so time is not to much of an issue.
