My 1965 GMC project Lots of pics
Hey here is my 1965 GMC project that ive Been working on for the last while
Sorry about some of the pics some were taken with a cell phone i got the truck From a good friend almost 3 years ago it was his uncles truck who died in a plane crash he was planing on fixing it but had to many other projects on the go ( he has lots of old trucks and cars ) this was to be my first resto so i hope you guys enjoy it as much as i have so far Lets start off with the engine its a 230 straight 6 .... when i first got the we tried turning it over with no luck until we pulled it apart and found that number 4 was rusted shut so i had an option toss it get a V8 like everyone else try to find a good used 6 and rebuild it or fix this engine.... well we decided to fix this one it cost about $850 to fix the engine only had 73549 original miles so it was worth keeping Work done Head combustion chambers were cleaned and head was resurfaced and 2 new valves ( guides were fine) Block Block Was acid dipped No 4 cyl was bored and a sleeve was installed and bored to factory specs all other cylinders were honed new cam bearings were installed new piston ( of course) new lifters crank cleaned and checked New frost plugs all new main bearings rods were checked new rod bearings factory spec Thats all.... was not that bad as i thought it was going to be here are the pics me and my friend and i put the motor together ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looks all nice a perfect ![]() ![]() Last edited by z24god; 03-23-2010 at 02:17 PM. |
