How to tell an NOS vs reman tail gate?

I bought a decent tailgate yesterday for $100 for my 69 fleetside. It was straight and only had a few dents with no rust. They guy said it was an original because it had the CHEVROLET stamped in it. I knew you could buy those from LMC or Brothers but didnt care to tell him that. The question is how can you tell if a tailgate is an original or just a clean remanufactured one? I have a reman now that is bowed to crap. Thanks.
