Drop Spindle install issue...suggestions needed

I'm at Park Lakes (non-gated side) off of the Beltway & Wilson (behind the Walmart). I just got a brand new 33 gallon Craftsman upright that I just christened for this project. This is barely the first side that I'm working on, so I still have the other side and the flip kit out back. It will be the first time I ever do a flip-kit, so let's see how that goes.
