Hydroboost pump bracket "Q"
Well, I just got my 86 GMC 1 ton tow rig back on the road again, after paint and exhuast work. (shortie headers, Flowmasters and stacks) As I was putting the AC comp back on, after modifing the AC bracket to work with the headers, I found out why the power steering belt has always squealed and flipped since I got the truck.
When the PO had the crate motor installed, (a local hack shop) I think they tried to put on the wrong waterpump, and cut the ear off the PS pump bracket that bolts down below the lower WP bolt. At least, I can see a hacksaw cut and assume that the bracket was cut off to clear the WP. Now the pump mount flexes (only 2 bolts holding it) and the belt will not stay tight or align properly with the WP or crank pulleys. Is the H/boost pump bracket different from the more common car one? I haven't ripped the bracket and pump out yet, how many pieces bolt together to hold the pump and AC comp, and how are they configured ? Any body have a pic or drawing of the correct bracket (s), off the pump, so I know which one I'm looking for? Hopefully, this is the "last hack" job fix on this truck, it's been a long hard road, lol. Thanks for the help, Paul |
