I think he got me....

I bought a 67 C10 on bags with what I was told a 383 stroker. It sounds very mean but I just have a feeling it's not a 383. My tires are very old and don't have much thread, the rear end is 3.08 w/o posi. I rode in my buddys 350 with 3.73 and it almost broke my neck when he stomped it. He also has put alot of money in the motor. I went home to see if i could get that neck breaking power. Well, I stomped it, and burned rubber for about 150ft until I ran out of road. Then I got on main strip and it just won't bite whatsoever. When I'm going about 30 I can stomp it but it just does'nt do what I would imagine a 383 would. Is their any way of telling if it's a 383 beside measuring the stroke? Possibly compression or something to that affect? I don't want to rip the motor out because if I do and it's not a 383, it will become a 383 and my wife will be very very very angry.... She's still mad at me for buying it but I just could not help it.
