Annoying ebrake rattle....
As I have sealed up my 84 4x4, new rattles appear with every improvement. I finally fixed one tonight that had drove me nuts. The rattle always seemed to come from the e-brake assembly and was really apparent if you went over cracked pavement or over lane delineators. These situations are hard to duplicate in the driveway, and I had tried placing a furniture felt between the pedal and the stop it rests against, nothing. Then I tried slicing a vacuum line and placing it against the frame, still wobbled and rattled. So again I contorted under the dash to check all bolts and finally found the culprit. Behind the switch for the brake light when the e-brake is applied is a 1/2 bolt that must be the first bolt they put in when assembling a square body. It took every half inch socket and wrench I had but I finally got it tight..... ah, another rattle sent to its great reward.
