fuel pump warning

.....to make a long story short..last summer after finding out my truck didnt have the sock at the end of the pick up line in the tank and was sucking up all the grap from my tank..it junked my fuel pump, so i went to get another but all they had was one with a return line, so i just plugged the return line off...had nothing but carb trouble since..after 4 carbs and trying different things i find out if you plug a return line pump off it pumps between 14 and 15 psi ...not good on needle and seats...figured i would pass the info on...she's good to go now with a Offenhauser 360 equa-flow ($30 from ebay) and a rebuilt 600 carter
