Removing engine/trans/transfercase
Ok, so this is the first tim I am removing the drivetrain on one of these trucks. It's a 70 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban. I have the complete front end removed, all accessories accept PS pump (lines and PS Box are off) I also have the rear drive shaft out.
What would be the best way to remove this? Right now I am thinking of disconnecting the transmission (TH350) from the transfer case and them pulling the motor/trans out together, and then go back for the transfer case, since this would give me better access to the bolts for the front drive shaft. Would there be a better way? And what is the best way to remove the shift mechanism from the frame/transmission? The truck is still on a trailer, so I don't have the height to get all three out together I don't believe. I am hopefully going to be trying this tonight so I can get the truck gone tomorrow.
