Advice on rear window

I got my '67 GMC a couple weeks ago and have been fixing it up to make it a driver, cab corners and supports being worked on currently. My current question has to do with the rear window (yea, it is a small one) The seal was shot and leaking, for some time. There is some rust in the seam, here are some pictures of what the worst part looks like after hitting it with a cup brush on a grinder.

I'm thinking I can get away with grinding the area smooth, treat the rust with some rust converter and rust sealer, paint and reinstall the window with a new gasket and be done. Is this a good plan or do I need to replace the metal?

Thanks
