Never under estimate the small block!

Since I have had the 68 it has run bad. I wrote it off to too much carb on a tired motor (327 w/edelbrock eps performer and 600 holley). My daughter and I swapped out to a Quadrajet I had here as I am slowly returning the engine compartment back to stock form anyway. I had freshen the carb and felt good about it when I put it on. It too ran like crap. I traced down the hokie wiring for the hei (speaker wire and electrical tape spliced into the original yellow wire up from the starter- told you it was hokie) felt like that help - had to now getting 12 volts. Readjusted the timing per service manual, still crap. Started checking the plug wires- #4 and #6 were swapped! I knew 5 and 7 could swap and run but not 4 and 6. Checked the rest and all the rest were ok but those two were crossed. Hope that it has not beat the bearings out of the little motor, as right now it is running pretty smooth. Also glad I had not driven it far could have been bad to get stranded or worse.
