I wouldn't worry to much about the chrome moldings. A roll of it is cheap enough you can put new on every few years and always look good. The last time I used it though, the stuff lasted well over 10 years before it started getting dirt and junk under the chrome overlay. Granted this was stuff we installed back in the early/mid 90's, probably different manufacturer by now.
