81-87 Dash Swap

I am replacing the cab on my 85. I found a good 83 cab with the exception of the passenger floor needing to be replaced do to a leaking heater core. Fixing the floor on it will be easier than fixing the roof on mine. My only set back is that the dash on the 83 is made to work with the wiper switch on the dash. I want to keep it on the column. I noticed that the dash panel has four bolt in it, but it looks like it is also tack welded to the lower lip on the windsheild opening. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone replaced it before? I want to stay with a stock dash. Will I have to drill out the spot welds?
