PICS! Thieves beware: trick window regulator!

This is one time when not fixing a problem on my truck actually paid off. So, all of you procrastinators out there, listen up!

I'm sure you read my other post about my road trip to Kansas City in the 68 Chevy. (If not, read this thread )

Well, spent a night in a Comfort Inn in KC, and came out the next morning to find my truck broken into. Talked with the police, and they said I was lucky, because there had been a group of kids tryin to steal cars all week long, and apparently, they failed with my truck.

How did they possible fail to break into my almost stock chevy pickup, you ask? (Cause it isn't difficult to break into these trucks!)

They busted up the vent window (see pics below). They pushed the vent window in the wrong direction. Then, they tried to roll down the window, but the driver's window regulator has a busted roller. So sometimes the rivot pin (with no roller) slips out of the track inside the door, and you can't roll the window down without opening up the door panel. Well, they cranked 'the wrong way' on the window and locked her up just sweetly. They couldn't get in! And, they gave up! Wooohoooo! I still have my baby!

And all because I refused to fix the busted roller on the window crank! Laziness pays off!

Here is the leftovers of the crooked vent window. I spent a good chunk of the weekend getting the window back on the correct side of the divider. (I took the rubber out).

And a view from the inside:

They damaged the hinge:

and put a nice chip in the glass:

And another pic:

And now, I have been reading all kinds of former posts about security in our trucks, and what to do. Things like
1. Kill Switches - all over the place and in multiples
2. Automatic Windows and cutoffs
3. Battery cutoffs
4. Fuel cutoffs
5. And GPS systems that locate your vehicle

Bottomline, I am very thankful to still have my chevy!

p.s. how do i fix the 'typo' in the title where i spelled the word 'thieves' incorrectly? i can change it in the post, but will it forever remain a 'typo' in the title on the board page?
