My regulator or is it. Check it out!!
So I did a little work on the regulator to get my 105 amp alt. going.
1st is what I started with. 2nd what I removed.Used a dremel with cutoff wheel to cut rivets loose. 3rd what I added 10K ohm 1/2 watt resister and couple bolts. 4th bottom side 5th installed Looks like I still have oem regulator. I also put a spade on the brown wire from the alt. harness. Took the plug off factory harness and tucked the white wire back in the loom for safe keeping. Just unpinned the wires so ends are still there if I want to go back to original. Pluged in to alt. harness and away we go. Tried a different ohm resistor and would not charge. This one seems to work. I'm thinking the low watts have something to do with the high ohm resistor, but that's all I could find at the shack. I'm going to try and find a 3 watt 75 ohm and see if it works. I checked resistance at harness and it was at 10 if I'm using my multimeter correct. Tied 2 in a series and got 20 but would not charge with 2 installed. I don't see how 75 will work. I checked the alt. tester at work and while testing the regulator circuit it puts 11.35 volts to the L wire. So I pressume this will be what you need at a minimum to make alt. charge? |
