Where to find carrier bearing support??

I just picked up a 70 GMC wrecker in need of a full restoration. The first thing I would like to do with it is get it driving and stopping. She runs fine but needs brake work and a new center carrier bearing.
My problem is this-the entire mount for the bearing is rotted out. There isn't even enough to use to copy to make a new one. What are my options? Is this a part that is available in the aftermarket world? I have looked long ad hard but have had no luck. I also measured from u joint to u joint to consider a 1 pc shaft but it measures 84.5"! Yikes! Is that even possible??
Any help would be great. Thanks
