New To Site
Hello all. I own a self built 69’ C-10 custom that I built from the ground up, did all the work myself from disassembly to paint back in the late 90’s. She’s a 69’ frame and cab, 72’ suspension dropped 4” in front (2” boxed a-arms & 2” springs) and 5” in back with springs, fuel cell under bed, 67’ front sheet metal with fiberglass hood, 89’ step side bed with shaved rear steps & roll pan, running a 98’ Chevy 350 “SP” create motor and a turbo 350 trans. Interior consists of bone yard Nissan buckets and a homemade center consol with B&M shifter.
Other than putting a few miles on her on nice summer days I haven’t done anything but maintenance work to her in five or six years but, as I’ve recently retired and have the time, I plan on digging in and updating her soon. Even though I just found this site in this past week, I’ve already gathered a wealth of ideas and information. Plans include: Fixing the mistakes I originally made in the metal work and replacing the glass hood with steel. Updating the suspension; maybe switch from boxed a-arms/springs up front to spindles/ springs, OPINIONS WELCOME. In the rear I need to relocate the shocks at a minimum and C-notch the frame but am considering installing a CPP Totally Tubular kit, again OPINIONS WELCOME. More than likely I’ll replace the 89’ bed with a period step side. One piece windows. New wheels and tires. New paint; considering satin black with pinstripes or flames, or, a dark charcoal grey metal flake. Updated interior. Here’s some pic’s from the original build, she remains unchanged since then. |
