Galvanized sheet metal?

I've got an 83 diesel Jimmy that I bought approx 20 years ago totaled with a hit to the left front. I pulled the front clip as well as engine/trans and had the frame straightened then put it all back together with a new front clip.

Now 20 years later I was looking at several new trucks, but have decided to stay with the Jimmy or something of the same style and a bit newer.

So the question is -- in the later years did GM start using more galvanized sheet metal? If so, when was the changeover? I see several Blazers on C/L locally from 83 to 90 for a reasonable price (at least from the pix/description). It may be be advantageous to get a newer one, rather than stay with the '83.
