I6 250 hard to get rollin

ok guys i have a I6 250 with a 4 speed behind it and i lifted it 4 inches and im running 33's. its decent wheeler so far. the only problem i have with it is taking off on the road in 2 hi.

i know that i know how to drive a standard but for some reason this truck is killing me tryin to take off. im taking off in 1st, the shift knob has low 1st 2nd 3rd and reverse on i. so i guess really its second but actual first is way to deep for steet use. i have a buddy with a 350 4 speed truck and he takes off in 1st with no problem and i can drive his truck with no problem so i guess my question is, does a 250 just not have the power off idle to take off easy or something or am i not doing something right.
