Newbie with '59 GMC Panel

Hi There Folks -

I recently acquired a 1959 GMC Panel that needs a lotta lovin. I fell in love with it when I saw it and decided to take the plunge.

I got the car with a running 235 IL-6 engine in it with the floor starter. I am don't believe it was the Blue Flame engine as used in the early Corvettes though. I replaced this engine with a Small Block V8 283 motor, it also got a new shifter and dual exhaust system.

My most immediate to-do items are to install the alternator and wire it up correctly and then I want install a new wiring harness to get the van up and running. I will also need to get the brakes fixed, bled or something or the other to get them at least working. I plan to change that to a disc system eventually.

I am told the van is not in bad shape all things considered. This is my first project antique car so I will be surfing a lot to learn as much as I can. I realize this seems to be more of a "Truck" forum, but I hope Panels are welcome too.

Here is Betty Bo on the delivery day
