New guy here...thoughts on this truck?
Hows it goin guys. Im a new guy to this forum, as well as trucks in general. Ive been a Jeep guy since i was 16(almost 21 now). But the Jeep thing got stale for me and now i drive a stock Cherokee til i can find my next vehicle.
Ive been considering my dads old 76 Chevy. I think i was only 10 when he bought it but i remember goin to pick it up with him. We had some great times in it. I learned to drive in it actually. He replaced the engine in 04 or 05 i think, with an Edelbrock 350 crate motor, which hauls ass(to me) lol. Its a 2wd, auto tranny, Scottsdale 20 trim level. The whole front end is basically new ie tie rods, ball joints etc. Itd probably need new tires, as well as a hefty tune up since its been sitting for over a year. Anyways, I could probably buy it off him for 1000 bucks or so. Thats close to how it looks now, that was back in 07 on a camping trip. Its got a lil more rust, has some different wheels on it etc. If i were to buy it id like to lower it a small amount, but i dont think i wanna slam it to the ground i still wanna be able to haul stuff if need be without scrapin lol. And id probably throw some steelies or mags on it. I think itd be awesome as a summer cruising vehicle. Id love to paint it, but thats far down the road if at all. Apparently it gets 11 mpg, but hey, when i had my jeep lifted i was gettin 13 so eh, im used to crap mileage. Basically what im lookin for from you guys, is some inspiration for its future. As in some pictures of some same body style trucks lowered, as well as how much work/money would i have to spend to lower it right, as well as fix some rust spots, mainly tailgate, rocker panels etc. Sorry for sounding so scattered but its hard to condense everything i wanna know in this post. I hate sounding like a noobie. I know so much about jeeps and lifting them but when it comes to lowering things, especially older trucks i know squat lol. Well anyways, thanks guys.
