Steering wheel swap

Are there any 'tricks' to putting a '77 steering wheel on a '70?

The stock steering wheel is too big for the 'gravitationally challanged' individuals...*ME* @ 17.5". The '77 is 16"...not much help but with this one...if I cough...I wont send the truck in the ditch..hahah.

I'm assuming the column shafts are the same size and taper.

I'd really like some advice and/or comments on this...and as always ...any and all are greatly appreciated.
