Stripping

Has anyone removed the hand-operated kick panel vents from a 73-87? Passenger side is nice and easy but the parking brake assembly is in the way of the driver's side. Do I pry it out hoping it doesn't break or is there an easy way of removing the entire parking brake assembly? I'm stripping everything off this truck for parts so saving the p-brake isn't important.
