'67 Steering headache! Frame is 100% flat...
The frame on my '67 stepside SWB is completely flat where the gearbox bolts on. I need to find a Couple-Shaft that will work with my manual gearbox, or figure out the best way to mount a power steering pump from a '71-72.
The Shaft coming from the gearbox is very short, whereas all the other manual gearboxes I've seen have a longer shaft. The part# on the top of my gearbox is 5675569. I'm wondering if my frame is a '66 with a '67 body? My frame's number is: 6Z143216. If anyone know how to decode that? Power steering is the way I'd like to go, I have the pump. But since my frame is all flat, I know I'll have to dimple the fame, and use washers to space it. Even the bold pattern on my frame is way different so I'd have to drill some holes to make it work... If anyone can help me out as to what is up with my manual gearbox, and what coupler I can use to make it work for now, that would be great! Thanks guys.
