Removing emission stuff?
I've had an 86 Silverado for a few months now, and being that this is the 25 year mark for it and it's exempt, I'd like to ditch the emissions stuff. I'm in no fear of emissions year roll-backs or any hoo-ha like that, and I have general disdain for Mr. Law to begin with, so advice against breaking federal laws or whatnot is moot.
It had been running a little goofy lately, and I'd like to just simplify it all. The question is, with a seemingly stock 305, what should I take off or re-route to get the best performance out of it? Are there any write-ups on this anywhere? I'm mostly unclear as to whether or not I need to switch the carb to an Edelbrock or something, or if I can just plug the inlets on the factory carb. Yes, I'd love to put in a cam, headers, intake, and carb, but it's just the simple truck. I have another one for that! Thanks!!
