Transfer Case Encoder Motor
What a pain this thing is! Changing the part no problem at all. Finding out that it is the problem ! My bad Transfer Case Encoder Motor on my '03 Z71 (92K) caused unbelievable problems.
1. Made the lights on push button case switch go crazy. Blink or just plain went out. 2. Stalling. 3. A/C cycled in and out over and over. 4. No power at all. Foot to floor....25 miles an hour. 5. Shift patterns way outta wack. Wouldn't downshift either. 6. Obviously had no 4WD and SERVICE 4WD code popped up. After all that and a very smart mechanic that I know and about 4 hours making sure there wasn't anything else wrong with any part of the truck the Encoder Motor was found to be the only culprit. Truck threw out 4 codes with one being the CO 327 Encoder Circuit Malfunction. Most of time spent was to make sure the truck didn't have multiple problems so that we were't just throwing parts at it. Changed the part and EVERYTHING back to normal! Thank god for really smart computer mechanics. Just thought I'd share...maybe it'll help someone sometime. |
