Take 2: 64 C10 SWB BBW "slow roast"
Figured I'd start another thread for the new truck.
Someone from another forum was following my build thread - he had a 64 that he stored away 10 years ago. A family friend talked him out of the original 283 that was in it and talked him into doing a big block and putting the whole thing on a 4x4 frame. Lucky for me that he lacks motivation from feeling the project was over his head. Here are the photos he first sent me: He got my interest from those and wound up making a deal with him to pick up the truck in exchange for a dirtbike that my wife doesn't ride any longer. Brought it home. Got it off the trailer, sold the 500 caddy motor and started to reassemble it: Took this motor: out of my 66 and sold it to a friend a few months ago. Bought the same motor back and spent the weekend going through it, replaced gaskets/seals and popped it in the 64: And here is how it sits with the 283 in it: My wife has now taken ownership of the truck and is excited to start driving it. I called it "slow roast" as this one will be slowly corrected and updated - and NOT overtly modified. She loves the stance up so high, the 3-on-the-tree trans and the short WB. The more I look at the truck the more I find that is is in really great shape - there are some areas that need new metal - like all of the trucks, but it looks like it spent its life in Missouri until 1998. The bed wood and sides are in excellent shape, as is most of the cab. |
