How to orient column shifter linkage?

I have a column shifter which has the arm on the bottom of the column for the shifter linkage. Right now in Park, the shifter arm is at 12 o'clock. Facing the cab from the front of the truck, the arm moves counter clockwise and probably stops around 8 o'clock in Low. Is this ideal?
