Lower Ball Joint Falls Out

Okay guys, Im working on a 68 C10. I bought new ball joints for a 73 C10 and just picked up a full set of spindles, rotors from a 79 C10 at the scrap yard.
I installed the new ball joints in the 68's factory a arms and all seemed well.
It took a press and some effort to press out the old ball joints but the drivers side lower joint went back in with ease.
Problem is, once i installed the spindle, the lower ball joint fell out of the lower a arm. I tightened the ball joints nut on top but it still falls out of the a arm. Im gonna go out on a limb and assume this isnt normal?!

Passenger side is in nice and tight as it should be. The way this thing falls out, one would figure it would have a snap ring on the top of the a arm installed to keep this from happening when driving.
Anyone ever experienced this?
