K20 versus Kia
So I'm out a work truck/tow rig for awhile...Driving home in the rain last week, 16yo kid in a Kia pulls out in front of me with about 2 car lengths to spare. Couldn't get around him but was able to avoid nailing him in the driver's door.
Folded up the Kia pretty nicely, truck looks ok (it looked pretty bad already) but when I got home noticed the pitman arm seems to be hanging low, and hits the leaf spring on full lock. So I crawled around and found some cracked paint on the right frame rail, and a buckle back by the forward cab mount. Radiator is seeping a little bit, headlight bucket is broken, side marker and turn signal broken, core support bolt broken and fender is pushed back into door, which won't open now... Kid's policy was Geico but they seem to be handling it ok. Still waiting on an available rental car. The adjuster actually sent a tow truck out to take it to a storage yard this morning for evaluation. I'm not expecting it to end well! These are just cell phone pics from the crash scene...forgot to take some yesterday before it left. Of course I'm in the middle of moving all my stuff from Dayton to Cincinnati (15 more cars to go!) and am now dead in the water. They'll probably want to total it - like I said, its not a pretty truck, but its not rusty, the 4wd drive works, its got a 250 with q-jet, header, offy intake, 4.10 gears and stickshift. Just put a new hitch on it too...Not an easy truck to replace, especially heading into fall/winter. |
