This is why I hate previous owner modifications...(pic)

Well, my rear tires on the 68 are toasted, so I decided I was going to pull them off tonight, put the truck on jackstands, and get new ones put on tomorrow....

Since my hydraulic jack is out of commission, I decided to use a standard bumper jack (I think it may have come out of my 77 monte carlo). As most of you know, 67-72's came with a bottle jack from the factory, but mine is long gone. So I placed the bumper jack under the rear bumper in the nice little cutout notch that's already there. Lo and behold, it worked...or so I thought.

I got the RR tire almost off the ground, and the truck shifted....I jumped back, and the lovely PMO (previous moron owner) homemade bumper bracket bent! So here's what my bumper looks like... I guess it's just another reason for me to get the correct brackets now

D'oh!
