winch cable snapped

not really sure where this would go forum wise but i have a question. my buddies rearend locked up in his truck 2 hours from home. when i went to load it my winch cable snapped. i was wondering if there is a way to replace that cable or even better reuse that cable as i only lost about 5 feet of cable. my problem is that my cable is clamped around the hook and i don't know where i could get another one that big. my buddy said he'd pay for fixing it and since he's gonna be out alot on a rearend and driveshaft since it snapped at the yoke at bounced off the ground a few times i was gonna try and do this as cost efficent as possible. thanks for any advice in advance.
