Fuel tank craziness; can you identify this fuel tank?
I have a 72 Chevy C10 longbed. The PO shaved the gas cap and removed the tank from the cab. He then installed 2 tanks under the bed in front of the rear tires. There is one on each side of the truck. The tanks are designed to be filled up in the wheel well of the rear tire. I wish I had pictures to show you but I don't at this time.
My question is; is this a "legitamate" fuel tank or was this custom made. And if it is a custom tank what are some things I need to look for to make sure it is safe? Also the fuel guage is not reading so I have no idea how much fuel I have. Right now I don't see any wires or anything suggesting that a fuel sending unit is connected. I'm not even sure there is a place for one as I have not dropped it yet. Any ideas on this as well? Thanks for the help.
