Batteries for Hydraulics?

A friend of mine recently bought a ride with hydraulics (yes the 'flippin switches' kind). He and I were both debating on what type of batteries to get for the system... and I want to win the debate so I'm going to need a little help. I'm thinking deep cycle marine batteries for more juice and longer lasting etc. What say you? Also, if you could point me in the direction of some just-as-good-as-the-name-brand-stuff-but-cheaper option, it would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!
