Hello,
I live in Connecticut and prior to registering a vehicle it needs to go through a VIN verification at DMV. I am ready to purchase a truck that is beautifully restored but the VIN plate is attached with round rivets not rosette rivets. I see so much of this. Here is a good example. Presently this truck is for sale on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-...item256d3116c2 . This is not the truck I want to buy but there is a picture of the VIN tag if you blow it up you can see that that vehicle has round rivets attaching the VIN plate.
I am supposed to go purchase a beautiful 72 today it is currently registered in another state. The owner is an older very nice guy. He registered the vehicle with no problems. I asked about the rivets and he told me they are round and he removed the VIN plate when doing restoration body work on the cab.
Should I pass on a beautifully restored truck at what I consider a very good price for this reason? Is this a real problem or am I imagining a problem that does not exist?
