Speed sensor help.
I might get flamed for this, but here we go!
I have a '75 GMC 1/2 ton with a 250 and a column shifted saginaw. Recently, the linkage inside the column took a dump and left me without 1st and Reverse. Also left me without a vehicle since the 2nd gear synchros were already toast. Luckily, a good friend had a decent saginaw laying around, so I threw that in, but still needed a new shifter... So in a pinch, I went down to Pep Boys and bought a ****ty, aftermarket floor-shifter kit. The problem I'm having is that the new linkage is in the way of the speed sensor. The truck came with this big, goofy 90 degree adapter, but it's too long. I can't even safely snake the cable between the linkage. Any suggestions that don't involve buying an expensive shifter that I can't afford at the moment? I can live with out a speedometer, but I don't like not having an odometer. Does anyone make/sell a short 90 degree adapter maybe? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
