Grabbing the gears
For a long time now I have been looking for a set of shift knobs for my truck, but nothing was fitting what I wanted, I wanted it to be a statement that someone that knew something about working on things would say "now that is pretty cool." So one day my rear end bearings went out and I was just doing an axle swap and had a bunch of parts laying around. I had the pinion gear and a couple other things in a box on my front seat and was showing a friend and he was like that would make a cool shift knob and I just said ya it would but it is way to heavy, so I just threw the whole idea out. but then I saw my spider gears in there and picked it up and said that would make a cool shift knob. so then my mind started to wander. so what I did is i took it to a local machine shop and had them make a piece that I could press fit into the middle and then drill and tap it and presto we have a cool shift knob
