chevelle rear springs

i;ve notice some of you guys have used chevelle rear springs. i tried one on my truck and the retainer dosent seem to tighten.the coil is not tight. the coil is smaller and im thinking this is why. i persumed the top &bottom retainers are the same. did anyone have this problem or maybe i should buy the right ones.just trying to save a few dollars to get something else. have some pics but dont know how to put them on here
