Thumbs up rear coils

i had a set of coils from a 70 chevelle that i used in the rear. the chevelle springs has 5 coils and is 9/16" round and the orignal ones are 3/4" round with 7 coils. i am thinking with a block 1 or 2 inches thick it will drop 3 to 4 inches. this way i may get away without relocating my shocks. dont know about shimming for pinion angle. what do some of you think about this.
