Magnaflow Mufflers - Which do I want?
I'm looking for a set of mufflers for my '70 402 that meet these criteria:
- Fits our trucks (mine's a longhorn, so no lack of space) - No droning. No interior annoyance. Suitable for long trips. - Sounds good when I'm angry I have a set of Magnaflows on my big-block B-Body and quite like them. They're louder than stock, of course, but nothing more than a deep rumble at idle and cruise... though it still sounds like the world is coming to an end at full throttle. So that's kind of what I'm looking for. Looking through their products, most of them are a straight through design except for their "Super Turbo". I thought Turbo mufflers died with Mr. Hooper on Sesame Street back in the70s, but there they are. So... anyone heard the Magnaflow Super Turbos on one of our trucks, or have any advice regarding selection? I'm pretty much set on this brand based on prior experience and research. Just don't know what kind. Also, what about pipe size? I'd assumed 2.5" but am guessing the original system was only 2". Thanks! Dave PS: On my '69 2+2, if you got the 427/335hp motor, dual exhaust was an OPTION. What kind of world were they living in? Sounded like a monster leaf blower against the curb.
