Stuck Front Driveshaft

I am in the process of installing a 4inch Tuff Country Lift.

My front driveshaft slip joint is stuck. I managed to get it to extend a few inches with a ratchet strap and a sledge hammer and I can now finish putting the new springs on. The question is, Should I remove the shaft and try to free it up, or should I just grease the hell out of it and run it as-is?
