Wiring is closer to the last step since wires have to go around everything else. You will need a new cluster since your original speedometer was mechanical and now you'll get a pulse signal from your transmission, or you could get a Cable X if you really want to keep your dash looking original. I did it the hard way in my wagon and put a mechanical gear on my tailshaft for the speedo, then got a converter from Dakota Digital to send a signal to the computer, don't waste your time. Fuel and exhaust and bodywork, man, then worry about wiring. Now might be a good time to rebuild the front end and convert to power disc brakes and steering.
