removing door panel cover

A easy quick question about removing a door panel.

I have a 1968 with like the foam/rubber arm rest. I have everthing disconnected except the arm rest. Whats the best way to get that off?
I used a screw driver but could not get anything to turn. I'm down to the ideal of drilling the head of the screw off but I can't see what I'm doing. [don't know what I'm doing / not even sure it's a screw]

Thanks for any ideals in advance.
P.S. I love this web site and surf to it most everyday to read all the good info.
