'65 Clutch fork questions
When I drove my '65 Suburban back from California last year, the clutch had a terrible rattle in it that would subside when i rested my foot against the clutch pedal lightly. I dont' know if it was just the TO bearing that was bouncing around around the input shaft sleeve--or if it was the clutch fork that was rattling around. When checking the fork today(as I plan on putting the engine/trans back on the chassis), I noticed a cutout where the pivot ball goes that I thought might require a retainer clip in it. This thought was further reinforced by an image in my LMC Truck catalog. If anyone has any insight into this--please let me know. I just want to make sure this all goes back correctly--even though it may not have been correct before. Here's what I'm looking at..
If you look around the deep area of the cutout, there is a groove that I thought a clip may sit in... In #7 in the diagram, a small clip is seen--but I don't have this item.. And, i never saw it in the removal of the parts. Here is the detail from below the diagram.. Here are the pics of the transmission where there fork goes inside.. Just looking for a little info before slapping all the drivetrain back together.. |
