New guy in Co

guys,

New guy from in Colorado. I'm new to the 67-72 c10 world. Got my first truck about two months ago. This site has been a TON of help to me and I've learned a lot! I'm really excited to get my truck done soon!!! Right now I'm working on it almost everyday after work and every weekend.

Unfortunately I've also learned that the truck I bought is in much worse condition than I originally thought. I wish I had done more research before I bought something.

The Good: I drove the truck home! It looked pretty good from the outside. The rockers and cab corners had been replaced. AC truck.

The Bad: The cab is in pretty bad shape, much worse than it looks. The cab doesn't have any inner rocker panels and the outer rocker panels are not put in correctly. They are only welded at the front and rear ends and not along the floor. You can see the floor through the rocker panel/cab joint. The cab corners were done very poorly and needs to be redone. The cab needs new A-pillars. All cab supports are rusted away. The floor is rotten away along the bottom of the gas tank and was patched in many locations using bondo or fiberglass or something. There is quite a bit of rust in the door seal rubbers.

The floor of the truck bed was also almost completely rotten away! Luckily I picked up a clean, restored bed on craigslist for only $300! It has been previously painted and is ready for the bodyshop for a new color.

This weekend I removed the rear helper springs and found that where the springs were clamped to the frame the frame is rotted away. It won't be too bad to fix, I can cut out the rotten squares on both sides and weld in new plates.

The plan for the truck:

It will be a weekend driver to go dirtbike riding/racing. The bed will be rubberized to protect it from the abuse. The cab will come off the frame and the frame will be repainted. All rust will be repaired on the cab and the entire truck will be painted. The paint job won't be anything fancy, but I will have it done because I'm useless with bodywork. The truck will also get a 4/6 ECE lowering kit and some C-5's or Boss 338's. Lastly the truck will get a LS swap, probably be turbo'd down the road but I'm WAAAAYYYY too broke right now.

I've attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Any feedback is appreciated!
