van frontend

I went to a junkyard today to see if I could find a posi rear, but I had no luck. So, I was on my way out when I passed by what appeared to be a 1/2 ton front crossmember (rim to rim) from a 71 or later truck sitting on the ground. I became very excited because if I bought this one, I wouldn't have to worry about pulling another from underneath a vehicle. The owner of the place came out and told me that it was actually off of a van. He did not say what year, and I can't identify the year myself. He said that it would work under my truck if I just used the lower control arms and brake parts, but not the actual crossmember. he gave me a price of 150. So, do you think that this would work for my truck? I have a 69 3/4 ton. I am trying to put in 5 lug disc brakes and want to lower the front end a little with lowering spindals. Does it sound like a good price?
Thanks for any info
brad
