Benefits of 5 stud conversion?
Well I just bought a 1968 short box step side, the same truck I had as a teenager in hi school. I'm already taking out the 250 six cylinder with the three on the tree. I'm getting a ls 4.8 and a 4l60e trani ready to put in it. Just waiting for the motor mount kit, cam kit to get here. I find myself awake at night planning my next step to do on my new project. I eventually want to put a single turbo kit on it aswell. So I am going to put p/s and a hydro boost brake booster on it so its ready when the turbo is on it. The only undecided question now is what to do with the engine/trani wiring harness and ECM, either get a stock harness and modify it or get a aftermarket one. The next question I have is when I upgrade the drum brakes to discs what number of wheel studs to use. What is the advantage to switching to five stud wheels. Now you can get the six stud disc brake kits. The only advantage I can think of is maybe there is more selection of five stud wheels. Thanks in advance for any advice you have for me.
