Question 67-72 Chevy/GMC 4x4 pick-up ???

Can anyone help me. I am just now getting in to the older truck market and I would like to know the best model for a build up. Years 67-72. I have the pic in my head but I don't know the best model truck to get there.

It will be a 4sp 4x4 with the np205 transfer case. It will have a 454 bored to a 468. It will be used for heavy towing and winter/farm work so should I get a 3/4 ton or can I get a 1/2 ton. Will put a dana 60 up front and a dana 70 or GM 14 bolt in the rear with 4.56-4.88 gears. It will be lifted 8-12 inches. Will run 35's-38's.

What model is best, there are so many. Can I get a 1/2 ton and swap in 3/4 ton or 1 ton running gear or should I get a bigger model. I don't care if it's a Chevy or GMC as both look good.

I'd perfer to know about 69's so I can build one up and paint it Hugger orange to pull my 69 Daytona yellow camaro.

I know this is probably nerdy but I'm not sure what to search for.

If anyone has any input please e-mail me at bkkjnelson@csinet.net
