Tim, I'm curious the 2-tone paint combo on the SPID you posted? What colors? OR, is D99 perhaps just an indication of the trim addition on a single color truck (i.e. I've never seen it listed on a two-tone truck - that's what I'm getting at - assumed it was part of any two-tone paint ordered from the factory). I agree, the trim piece presence is interesting. I'm putting my money on a PO add-on for whatever reason.

Graham - I think it's a good looking and now, as confirmed, very legit truck. Note that it does have the upgraded super seat cover in it - very worn, but a houndstooth seat cover nonetheless. Per your SPID (and as would be normal for a Cheyenne), this truck would have come with the Cheyenne's blue vinyl seat. I noticed the carpet was missing also, so some interior work has been done and that's perfectly normal for a truck like this. Good luck, I hope you get it. Better bid on those hubcaps quick - they're the correct ones for this truck!!
RPO D99 is the order code denoting a two-tone truck. Its whole purpose on the broadcast sheet (build sheet) is to let the guy on the assembly line know that clip studs are to be welded on the cab. Like so many options listed only on the build sheet it is part of an option that is condensed on the SPID. Take the lower bodyside moldings. As they are included in the Cheyenne package they are not listed seperately on the SPID. If this truck were a factory two-tone D99 would not appear on the SPID but it would be on the build sheet. The SPID will simply list the specific paint code for the two-tone color and style chosen, for this truck say a 572,559 or 482 for examples.
Below is a build sheet for a Cheyenne Super. Note that it lists the upper and lower bodyside moldings that come standard on a Cheyenne Super. However it also lists the D99 as the paint code selected was for a Deluxe Two-Tone.

The upgraded seat cover is interesting to see, but if you remeber the early reproduction parts were all aimed at the top end trucks and even today it is a lot easier to get a Cheyenne Super than a Custom seatcover. Below is a brochure clip of the two interiors side by side. The one thing to note in that picture is that Chevy upgrade the exteriors of both trucks over what a "stock" truck of that trim level would look like. Pure marketing.
