Question running cardboard in frotn of radiator for better heat. but how warm is too warm?

Alright I'm running a chuck of cardboard in front of the radiator on my '66 to improve the heat in the truck, yes i know it sounds crazy but they did it a lot back in the day! it covers a little more than 1/4 of the radiator, but we've got a warm spell here in NJ and want to know at what outside temperature should i remove this cardboard? above 45 degrees?
